Catching up

Okay, so it's been a couple weeks or so since our last post. And, this is the format I thought was going to be easy to keep up with...oh well! All has been good here. The kids have had a fun February. Valentine's Day was exciting. Colson got to help put together his Valentine's for his class. We gave out Cars cards and mini-Playdough containers...figured we wouldn't give out candy since we don't encourage it here. Since Valentine's Day fell on a Thursday (not a normal school day for Colson), we decided to head to Jiggy's work for a visit. But, Colson woke up with a fever - on top of a cold he had been fighting. So, a quiet day and a quick trip to the doctor instead. He had a boring cold bug - fever was gone in a couple days. And, he's better than new now!
Ashlyn has been all over this month. She gets to run around most of the downstairs on a regular basis. She got a hold of the cat's water bowl for the first time a few days ago. She didn't end up quite as soaked as Colson was after his first water bowl experience, but we did have to find a dry pair of socks! She is "talking" like crazy. We are really starting to recognize her words for some things. She's got MaMa, DaDa, and RoRo down. Of course, she calls Rogue and both cats "RoRo"...must be her word for animal with four legs and a tail. She is ALL Steve when it comes to her playful side. She is quite the daredevil! Steve was flipping and tossing both her and Colson around on the couch the other day. She just laughed and laughed. Luckily, Steve is very quick because she likes to try to dive off of the couch, when she can. Crazy child. She also went to her first Little Gym class last week. She absolutely loved it! The guy who teaches the class and runs the place was commenting that the last time he saw me I was very pregnant with Ashlyn. Amazing, but true. It's incredible how time flies by!
Colson's been enjoying school as much as ever. He is back to a very regular (I write this before I have gotten the daily report for today!) nap schedule here and at school...thank God! He actually didn't take a nap at school Monday. When I asked him about it he said, "Booky was talkin' and woke me up. So, I had to talk to her." "Booky" is his friend, Brooke. I said, "No, you really didn't have to talk to her. Then, I realized I was trying to reason with a 3 year old over one nap. I let it go. I figured Booky is quiet most of the time, so we're okay. Oh, and I'm sure Booky's story to her Mommy/Daddy was the opposite of Colson's. We'll never know who made who have to talk!
Steve and I are good too...like any of you check on this site to see how we are! :) But, we are nonetheless! Steve's work is good, busy. He is "branching out" of his territory for a few accounts here and there. He will stay busy dealing with that over the next couple of weeks. Then, we've got visits coming up with Nay Nay (Nate) and Gramps/Sylvia/Emma in March. LOTS of visitors to see these darling kids of ours!
I'm VERY happily almost done with preparing all the fun stuff to send to our wonderful accountant. I promised myself that I'd wait to start Ashlyn's 1st year scrapbook until I was done with the tax stuff. So, I'm quite excited about where I am in the process. After that book is done (part scrapbook, part baby book), I plan to become obsessively involved with scrapbooking. Cute kids, lots of pictures - it just makes sense! And, I'm trying to make myself stop and do something that I just enjoy every once in a while. It's a good thing, I'm sure! I'm terribly behind on TV and movies, so I thought I'd go a different direction. Oh wait, we did go to the movies a couple weeks ago. I saw "Step Up 2." Have to admit, I didn't see Step Up 1, but that one didn't star Briana Evigan...an incredible dancer and all around amazing, wonderful person. The only downside I could find to the movie was that I had to admit Bri wasn't 6 years old anymore. I couldn't handle doing the math to see how old that must make me! :)
Okay, so that's our catch up for now. It's 4Pm here right now (despite what the posting time claims) and Ashlyn will be waking up soon. Must be great - 11 or so hours of sleep at night and a 3 hour nap during the day. That's the life!
Take care!

It's so cute that Ashlyn is talking so much and that Colson is missing out on naps because he is too busy flirting!! You'll have to post some pics after that March visit from the fam!
